What is a polyurethane tire?

February 4th, 2015

What is a polyurethane tire? The simple answer to this question is that it is a tire made from polyurethane, which is a strong, resistant and flexible man-made material that is proving to be an excellent substitute for traditional tires made out of rubber. Polyurethane tires have a number of undeniable advantages that make them superior to rubber tires:

The Green Choice

They cost less energy to produce and are completely recyclable, making them the environmentally-friendly choice.

Road Safety

They are extremely safe, are much less likely to ‘blow out’. Unlike rubber tires, polyurethane tires are made from a single piece so are not going to fray and separate. Much better for long journeys on motorways.

Attractive Appearance

They can be made in any colour so are ideal for the fashion-conscious.

Value for Money

Polyurethane tires last for an incredibly long time. They are the ideal choice for heavy workhorses such as fork-lift trucks as they can bear a heavy load, whilst being more lightweight than traditional tires. They have a much lower rolling resistance than rubber tires. This means that polyurethane tires make running the vehicle more fuel efficient.

Polyurethane tires are becoming increasingly popular and many experts in the industry believe that they will be the future tire of choice.
